Open Hearth Farm is owned and managed by Kevin Benoit and Marisa Suarez. The two owners met at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA and both graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees. After graduation, they moved to Kevin's childhood home in Orange County, CA where they began to search for entry level positions in their respective fields. With the post-graduation glow wearing off and still no luck with the job search, they channeled their energies into their favorite hobbies: cooking and gardening. After cooking with their own home-grown ingredients, they realized that farming their own vegetables and fruits vastly improved the taste and nutrition of everyday meals. Shouldn't this be true of meat products as well? Off they went on internship after internship, moving to different farms across the United States of America while learning about the best ways to raise livestock such as goats, cows, and poultry. After 3 years of gaining experience and knowledge, they have finally settled down in Waverly, VA and are proud to offer premium pasture raised chicken to their loyal customers. Their customers enjoy a variety of chicken products from whole chickens, to boneless skinless breasts, wings, thighs, and more. They are determined to make a change in their local food system, not only by educating about the benefits of pasture raised chicken, but also by having people experience the amazing taste and quality of their meat.
