About Lightning Rock Land LLC
Lightning Rock Land is a regenerative farm focusing on carbon sequestration in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. We converted a forgotten forest into silvopasture, offering custom grazing leases for cattle. The silvopasture provides shade through the hot summer months and the grazing cattle combat invasive and undesired plant species in the forest while providing other ecosystem services such as nutrient cycling and biodiversity. Utilizing diverse cover crops during warm and cool seasons, the soil is always covered and the forages work with the trees to sequester carbon. The cover crop blend of legumes, brassicas, and cereals provide all the nutrients to the soil and each other, eliminating the need for harmful fertilizers and pesticides. We've introduced goats to aid in brush management and bees to aid with pollination. We plan to introduce pigs and poultry in the fall of 2022.
