SHAREcroppers Farm SHAREcropper's Farm is a small "farmette" in Upstate SC with naturally grown heirloom vegetables, herbs and flowers, and also fresh eggs. We have a 16 week long CSA harvest period during the spring - summer and an 8 week long fall harvest period. Weather permitting (this IS local food you know) there are weekly baskets of fresh produce sold on a limited basis throughout the winter months. We use only sustainable farming practices such as cover cropping and insectories, companion planting, and only OMRI pesticides when needed. Chickens and goats nourish our soils as well as help us keep weeds down. Ninety-five per cent of our crops are heirloom vegetables, which have a much richer flavor than hybrids. We offer our shares in two sizes. The FULL share amounts to usually a half bushel basket (think peach basket) of produce and one dozen eggs. This is the size recommended for a family of four. The HALF share is half that amount of food, usually one quarter bushel plus six eggs. My tips on share sizes: if you are a family of ONE or TWO people, and you live relatively close to the farm, the weekly HALF share will probably feed you. If you are seeking to feed a family, then the weekly FULL share would be for you. ALTERNATIVELY, I also offer the FULL-SIZED share on a bi-weekly basis. This is pretty popular as you get a basket of fresh veggies and eggs, every other week. This should help with gas!!! The prices for the weekly half share and the bi-weekly share are the same.
