About Overland Lamb
Overland Lamb and Wool is a female veteran owned humane, all-natural, small-scale farm located in southern Michigan. We are lamb and wool producers that focus on whole animal use. We have a traditional breeding system in which we produce purebred Blue Faced Leicester, Teeswater, Romney, and Finnsheep, and crosses of the above, giving us a range of fiber and carcass sizes to meet various customer needs. Owner Aimee comes from a family based in livestock production out west, and began getting exposure to sheep production in 1988 while growing up in Wyoming. Many years later, she became a shearer and traveled the world for several years shearing various breeds, and researching production practices. The farm name was chosen to represent where we come from, who we are, and why we do what we do. There are three reasons for the name "Overland": First , Overland lambs are just that- lambs that bridge the divide of region and country. Our breeds are heritage or primitive, and founded around the world, born here, and sold all over the US. Second , Our name is also founded in shepherdess and owner, Aimee’s background. She is a sheep and wool researcher and has traveled the world studying sheep and wool production systems in remote regions. And finally , our name helps us communicate that our lamb and wool products contribute to the market and value chain way beyond our farm in Michigan. We sell local and global, always using local processors for meat and fiber, and that is a win win for everyone in our value chain. Our sheep genetics start globally, are produced locally, and then marketed far and wide.
