Small scale regenerative focused farm focusing on high quality pork and chicken and egg production, with a rotating menu of produce that is all open pollinated for our Apiary of bees. We use, sell, or feed everything we grow and produce, and anything we cant make use of goes into compost to help feed out soil. Only use OMRI listed fertilizers and insect sprays, and carefully select our heirloom, open pollinated seeds from trusted sources. 90% of our seeds come from non-GMO and organic certified sources. We make all efforts to grow the way previous generations did, keep things simple, low cost, healthy and whole. We sell online at www.gemridgefarms.com, at our local farmers markets and to local chefs in the area. Our pork is a heritage breed mule foot/Berkshire cross that lives in the wood line below hard wood trees, and is fed a diet of commercially available feed and produce that is donated to our farm, often organic listed food that you or I would eat! We have focused on selective breeding to create red meat pork that is marbled like beef, full of flavor and tasty! We do ½ and whole hogs, as well as custom cuts like breakfast sausage, bacon, sausage links, center cut ham, shoulder and butt roast, tenderloin and porkchops, and our 5 different flavors of brats! Our pork has been used by numerous chefs for tasting events and been made into cuisine that made it into magazines. We raise Cornish cross breed chickens on a rotating graze cycle with high quality commercial feed and grass. We raise them to about 7-9 weeks and only sell fresh to our customers that include retail and wholesale. We do custom quantities and orders for customers. GEM Ridge offers eggs to the public as well, currently only for retail customers, but we are working on growing a wholesale segment to include egg grading for the commercial customers that require that. We rotate breeds and genetics for our egg production to help with variety and health. As just like our other livestock, non of our animals are fed anything with antibiotics or hormones, nor are they given those items during their lifetime. Bees Bees Bees! We are part of the Hero to Hives Alumni and love bee keeping. We lease many properties (always looking for more in out area) where we raise our honey bees for breeding and honey production. We produce a simple filtered raw honey that sells out quickly! We only filter it through cheesecloth and bottle, that simple. Raw, organic local honey. Also on you farm we have various wild berries and propagated berries that we provide for sale as whole berries or jams, along with various hot peppers, tomatoes, greens, squash, beans and many more veggie items.
