Jims Greenhouse is retail and wholesale business nestled along the Mississippi River in Montrose, IA. The owner, Jim Johnson, has been in the greenhouse business for over 20 years. He started working for Dennys Greenhouse in 1990, started his wholesale business in 1995 and then in 2000 developed a retail division of his business. They carry a wide variety of annuals, perennials, and vegetable plants, shrubs, hanging baskets, mixed planters, herbs and water plants. In previous years Jims Greenhouse has been known for their fresh produce in the summertime. This year they have decided to concentrate on the greenhouse aspect of the business and only raise watermelon for the local Montrose Watermelon Festival that is held in late August. Every year in March the doors to the eight greenhouses full of blooming plants open for the season. Jims has the largest selection of perennials in the area and has over 65 different varieties of tomato plants and 50 different varieties of pepper plants. More than 80% of the plants sold at Jims are grown in their greenhouses assuring you the freshest and healthiest plants available. If you have a green thumb Jims is the place for you. Even if you are not an experienced gardener the friendly and helpful staff will point you in the right direction for success with whatever type of gardening fits your particular lifestyle.
