About Berkowski Family Farm
Honest. Wholesome. Delicious! Berkowski Family Farm is a small farm located in Northern Illinois - just 20 minutes south of Rockford and 90 minutes west of Chicago. We are woman owned and family operated . BFF specializes in grass-fed poultry and domestic squab. We grow our meat chickens and turkeys seasonally and sustainably on 2.5 acres of virgin wild pasture. Our pasture has not been chemically treated in over 20 years! Our grow-outs finish in mobile tractors, moved daily to fresh pasture greens and grasses, where they get 24/7 access to fresh water, balanced crumble food, clean air, natural sunlight, and all the bugs they can catch. Their varied diet creates full flavored meat - minimal seasoning required! We produce hundreds of premium squab each year. Squab is an all dark meat with baby fat just under the skin; it is often compared to a cross between a duck and steak. Our breeding birds are raised in double pens - one pen to safely nest away from the elements, and one pen to enjoy 24/7 outdoor access securely. They are fed a 100% vegetarian diet. Our squab ranges from medium to jumbo size (10 to 19 ounces each).
