About Blossoms Farm

Carin Fortin is a native of Switzerland, teacher, herbalist in training and certified permaculturist. She makes bitters, tinctures and tonics inspired by her family’s tradition and using herbs from the farm. Delmar McComb has gardened professionally for over 25 years and has had a passion for biodynamic farming and gardening for the past 20 of those years. Delmar has served as horticulturist, consultant, and designer for many acclaimed gardens, public and private, throughout the state and teaches and lectures frequently on varied subjects related to horticulture, biodynamics, anthroposophy, and design. Blossom's Farm was founded in 2010 by partners in life and work, Carin Fortin and Delmar McComb. Their vision remains as it always has been: to nurture a small-scale, diversified, self-sustaining biodynamic farm organism that grows nutrient dense crops, including herbs, vegetables and fruits. Many of these crops are in turn value added into medicines, skin care, nutritional powders, and lacto-fermented products. Blossom's began working with the farmers markets in 2017 and have built a strong following over the years. Beginning in 2024, Blossom's expanded its range of offerings by taking over a sizeable area in Moss Landing formerly farmed by the beloved Windmill Farm. When its founder, Ronald Donkervoort and his wife Cate, retired and moved to Spain Carin and Delmar saw an opportunity to extend their reach and continue a dedication of land care in this region. They now grow here and at their property in Aromas. With this new endeavor, Blossom sells fresh produce weekly at the Downtown and Live Oak markets. Keeping the tradition of Windmill alive, they continues to feature open-pollinated, heirloom varieties of vegetables and fruits while also adding in newer specialty items that are becoming favorites of discerning chefs and the public itself. Most recently their herb selection has been a significant hook. A gap in the market for some time, it is wonderful to see hefty bunches of tarragon, Thai basil, scented geraniums, za'atar, various thymes and chives. I'm going to keep going because it is remarkable: dill, ashitaba, gotu kola, sage, rosemary, lavender, allium
