About Lucky Star Farm
Our Farm is a 170 acre permaculture homestead located in north central Arkansas just off the Buffalo National River (the first national river in the United States). The land has been developed over the past seven years with orchards, permanent blueberry and blackberry beds, gardens, and cover crop fields. We added ducks, chickens and guineas the summer of 2014 and plan on adding sheep and goats to the property in 2015. Infrastructure building has included a well, underground power, roads, passive solar main house with a large processing kitchen, shop, art studio, guest apartment, barn, chicken coop and more. Plans are in the works for more bunk houses and a game room. We have creeks (with many swimming holes) on the property and a cave. Our goal is to grow, raise, or locally source 75% of our own food. Future projects involve installing a high tunnel, fencing pasture, creating trails throughout the property and learning new ways to process food and extend the growing season. We are active in the local food movement and members of The Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group and Slow Food. We would love to hear from other food advocates, homesteaders, gardeners and people who feel clean, fresh, and fair food is important in their lives! Donna and David
