About The Natural Place
The Natural Place Right now the Natural Place has 6 doe goats (3 are milking), 30 laying hens. Ã? We also have 4 dogs (all fixed, all have shots). Ã? Our season is almost year round because of our mix of northern and tropical breeds of chicken, and because we stagger the breeding of our goats. The inception of the Natural Place came about fall 2008 when I was working in the Arts and Crafts department at the Arkansas State Fair.Ã? I saw people - kids even - who did things for themselves. Ã? They baked from scratch, canned their own produce, and sewed their own clothes. Ã? I also met a wonderful, vibrant woman who had dairy goats and made soap and other body products from their milk. Now, I had interest in all of these things before. Ã? (Just ask my college roommates - I drove them crazy - baking constantly.) Ã? I just didn't know anyone else did. Ã? Furthermore, I didn't know you could make a life for yourself doing it. Ã? That's when I really started to look into homestead farming - the idea of farming a little bit of everything on a small acreage, and being mostly self-sufficient. It was a brilliant way of life! Ã? I could spend enough time in the barn, in the garden, and in the kitchen to my heart's desire! I got married August 2011, andÃ? I am blessed with a husband who supports my endeavors!
